Middletown, CA. 95461 (707) 987-3113 Open for Lunch Monday - Friday 11:30am - 1pm If you are over 60 you can enjoy a home-cooked meal for a $4 donation at the Middletown Senior Center, located 1/2 mile east of downtown Middletown just off Highway 29 in Central Park. Here you can dine with a vibrant, though at times stretched community that really cares about each other. For lunch a variety of comfort food dishes is served (with some organically grown ingredients). Lunch entrees vary from oven BBQ chicken with baked yams, French bread and garden salad, baked fish with rice pilaf, cantaloupe wedge and coleslaw, spinach lasagna with zucchini, garlic bread and 3 bean salad, beef and biscuits with carrot/pineapple salad and meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy and country vegetables. Lunch comes with salad, bread and butter, coffee, tea or milk and varying desserts such as ice cream, delicious fruit pie or cobbler or maybe a chocolate brownie or some cookies. Three generations of cooks make up the "peerfect storm" in the kitchen putting smiles on visiting senior faces. There are also home delivered meals for the home or room bound. For registered seniors there is a free video lending library and in the book corner are free magazines and books. There are healthy living and diabetic support groups. The "Thrift Corner" accepts donations which helps finance senior center programs, however no clothes, shoes or large appliances are accepted. The dining room bulletin board alerts seniors to approved helpful services, events and "Buy - Sell - Trade Opportunities". A new senior center will be built in 2011 and will be located in Middletown on Main Street. There is also a in-house Newsletter supported by area businesses - please shop there.
